Properties

If you buy Antibodies supplied by Biovision they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.

Description

This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.

Formulation of this antibody:

100 µg (0.5 mg/ml) affinity-purified rabbit polyclonal phospho-c-Jun (Ser73) antibody in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.2, containing 50% glycerol, 1% BSA, 0.02% thimerosal.

Recommended usage:

Western blot analysis (1 µg/ml) and Immunohistochemistry (10-20 µg/ml). However, the optimal conditions should be determined individually. The Phospho-c-Jun (Ser73) antibody detects only activated c-Jun when phosphorylated at Ser73. It does not react with non-phosphorylated c-Jun.

Background information:

c-Jun is a component of the transcription factor AP-1 that binds and activates transcription at TRE/AP-1 elements. The transcriptional activity of c-Jun is regulated by phosphorylation at Ser63 and Ser73. Extracellular signals, such as growth factors and UV irradiation, stimulate phosphorylation of c-Jun at Ser63/73 and activate c-Jun dependent transcription. The MAP kinase homologue, SAPK/JNK, binds to the N-terminal region of c-Jun and phosphorylates c-Jun at Ser63/73.
